Been Awhile, eh?
Hello to anyone out there who still watches me!
It's been a long time. I finally got a computer again, so I thought I'd give a bit of an update.
I moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. I now live with the love of my life and best friend. We are planning on getting married at some point. Most of my stuff is still back in Michigan... I thought it would only be a few weeks, but then we fell on hard times and I wasn't able to do so. So a lot of my drawing/art stuff was left behind. We are hoping to go get my stuff soon thou. It's been over a year and I feel bad that my one friend has been a champ and keeping my stuff safe.
I haven't been doing a lot of art still, but since I got a new-to-me lap top I will be changing that.
I haven't been able to lock down a normal job, which I was worried about- but then the lockdown happened. And Lucas (the bf) is able to work from home, so that's been really good.
I know a lot of people are hating the lockdown, and I fully understand that having to shut your business down is super hard, but it's been about the same for me, as far as lifestyle goes. I pretty much stayed indoors unless I was looking for a job. And most of that I did on-line anyway. Or going food shopping. Since moving I hadn't made any friends yet, so I don't have friends close by that I could visit if I wanted to. I've also spent years not hanging out with people or going out, due to lack of funds and friends. So I'm pretty used to all this.
It does suck that we can't go out if we want, but it's not that big of a deal to the both of us. We both like spending time alone, together. And having a cat to hang out with is pretty nice.
I've felt bad about not doing as much art, but like I said, that should change soon.
I do still watch a ton of movies and tv shows.... and read books. So it's not like I can say I'm that bored.
I do wish I was doing more commissions.... but that's still been slow. I think I only sold art 5 times last year. Vending helped the years before, but since i moved I haven't been able to afford to do any of that. Nor to I have all my stuff with me to sell, so I'd have to make new stuff.
Most people think that you can just go vend for $20, but really it's more like $500+
And I'm not that great of a sales person. I tend to get very shy around people when it comes to selling my stuff and I don't want to seem too pushy. I should just hire someone to take a part of the sale, to help me, but I don't even know how to go about all that. It'd have to be someone I trust and that's not very many people. I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Posting and Things
But I'm going to try harder to be better about it. Plus I'm going to be posting more to Patreon to get that whole thing going better. I don't have anyone signed up for my thing there, so please be awesome and subscribe to it if you could. I may be changing things over there and making it even cheaper.... Then if I can get some backers I can also back others!
I'll be trying to post more things there that I won't be putting up anywhere else.
I'm not working right now (hopefully soon if some things pan out) so it would be awesome to make some money to continue to make things or I may have to give it up altogether because I won't be able to afford to restock on supplies. And I would really love to put my books together finally. I've put it off for so long since I always had to use my money for other adulthood type things.

About Vending
I've been vending a lot these last 2 years. I started selling more stuff this year which makes me pretty happy. I was getting really down about not making sales and having people ask me why I don't vend huge shows. I guess most people don't understand just how expensive vending is. I don't usually have $1000 to vend huge shows, or ever have $1000 for anything.... lol.
But me and my bf go down to Ohio from April-October. This year thou a few fest at the park we go to have been cancelled so we'll have to find stuff more local for a couple months.
Vending can be really annoying.... you pay a bunch of money to stock up, you pay to set up, you Maybe make money back. I'm lucky because my bf makes jewelry and always sells stuff. I might sell nothing, or 2 things ($20 if that's prints), Or if I'm real lucky I'll sell a few prints and one or two bigger things... and my bigger things that sell are usually one of those monster paintings I've been doing lately, which the most expensive one so far went for $60. Or I'll get really lucky and sell something for $100. But that has only happened like... twice.
So you really have to make sure that if you do vend, that you're at least having fun where you are. Because if you let it be all about the money and making money, and you don't sell anything... a lot of the time... then you'll just be stressed out and have a bad time.
The first year we vended I was pretty upset over the fact that even thou people looked at my stuff and said it was awesome, they wouldn't buy it. Even when I had prints for $5...
But I just had to let it go... my BF makes pretty good money selling hat pins and his jewelry, so it doesn't really matter if I do make money, at least he can feed us. But it would be nice to make my own money with my own work.
Last weekend we had an event, Slightly Stoopid. And I didn't sell shit for the first 2 days.... then I sold 2 prints for a total of $25. Then the last day a lady came through and dropped $140 on my stuff alone. I was so happy! Even thou it's not much money, it was still more than I had when I got there. And there was 2 fest early on that I did super well with, making about $300. Which isn't a lot to some... but it was better than nothing.
There's been lots of times when we didn't even make back the money we had spent on the table space. There's lots of saying the same thing over and over and over to people in hopes to make that sale. But most of the time you'll have to get used to people wanting to buy drugs instead, or asking you to trade for drugs instead.... or trade bullshit you don't really want.... or people telling you that your prices are too high, even if you have stuff for $5... people always want something for less. And it doesn't matter how much time you spent making it.
Then you have the awesome people, who get your shit. They love it so much! And hey, even if they don't buy it, just having people talk to you about it and watching them laugh at something or about to cry about something.... It's nice having that connection with people. And when you make a sale it's the best! Even if it's only $10. Because you made their day with your work.
I really hope the next one we do in Ohio, in September I believe, that I'll sell a ton of stuff. It's usually always a good selling crowd. Although I thought Slightly Stoopid (about 5000 people or more maybe...) that I would sell nearly out of prints... so I made a ton of them... and only sold 3 total the whole weekend. We had a show the weekend before (Cheech and Chong) that I also thought I'd do good at and I think I sold like 1 print.
But it's like that sometimes.
I've got the Michigan Glass Project coming up this weekend, so I hope that goes well too.

What's New?
Things are looking up and it's always one day at a time.
All we can do is keep going and keep trying.
Working on art and stuff as usual. They changed the paper in the notebooks I use and I don't like it. lol
I'm trying to do some pieces that will sell nicely over the spring/summer festival season. So I need to get into that mindset.
Been watching a ton of Netfilx. Movies are always good.

Winter is Coming
Still drawing and painting, just not as much as I used to.
Been vending at festivals more over the summer. I've met a lot of cool people doing so.
I started another book for my series. Also doing my Graphic Novel pages that will be added to my books.
Lost one of my jobs at the end of summer, they closed down the place. Haven't worked at the other in a very long time.... so trying to find another job and selling more art. I have a ton of new prints if anyone wants to check them out at my art FB page (link at bottom).
My depression has gotten worse over the last few years. Keeping me at home a lot of the time. I just don't have the energy I once had.
Sorry I haven't posted as much as I once did. Not having my own computer has put a damper on that. But if you check out my art FB there's more on there since I can post from my phone. And much more on my personal FB if you wanna add me there.
Done with school and have a degree now. I am thinking of going to another school for something else once my car is up and running again.
I really hate not being able to drive my car. But when I had nearly enough saved up to get tabs and insurance we lost our jobs and I had to use what I had to feed us and gas money.... life sucks sometimes.
I guess that's all I feel like writing....
